I'm Bored

Chris and I are driving down to Corvallis tonight after he gets off at 8pm.

Meanwhile, i'm drinking a Jubelale - so tasty. It's only 3:30pm but my holiday va-cay is only 3 days. Gotta enjoy it while I can. I go back to work Wednesday at 10:30 am.

-So excited to have some fun at the parents house (aka, drink their booze)! And stay up late with my siblings.

-We move in 8 days! Can't wait. I'm buying a new couch from ikea.

-Everyone is in Corvallis already (brothers Jonah and Eli, sister Tay) while i'm washing towels.

-I'm getting my bangs trimmed today at 5:45. I always think it's funny to just get your bangs trimmed. But they grow so damn fast!

-I got a $28 tip last night!

-I hope everyone has fun with loved ones, family, friends and santa.

4 days till Christmouse

I can't believe it! It's almost Christmas and I am so excited to hangout with my brothers, sisters, Ajers, bird and my parents.

I just got done babysitting for little G this morning. And let me tell you, she is one sweet thang. She hugged me goodbye and I thought it was so precious.

I realized driving home that Mamas are heros. Seriously. All you Mamas out there (you know who you are!) are amazing. Since being a nanny this summer, I have somewhat forgotten that babies and little ones are the most amazing/fun/silly/cute/smart and energetic beings.

I hope one day I will be just as great as all you Mamas.

On another note. After earning a little food money, I went to freddy's and picked up 4 ingredients to make the best sandwich.

Here they are:
Onion bagels
Plain cream cheese
Avocado
Peppered Tofurkey (or, just slab some regular turkey on there)

Make a bagel with cream cheese, add avocado and sliced protein of your choice... and there you have it! The best sandwich ever.

We're MOVING!

We found the perfect apartment and we are so excited to be moving on January 1st! What a great way to start the new year in a new place! (Also, it's our one year anniversary! Crazy huh?)

Here's a couple pics from the website.

We will be about 5 blocks away from my brother Eli and sister Taylor.

We will be 3 blocks away from our good friends Adam and Martha.

I can't wait to move in with my sweet boyfriend. We are so happy. And we are going to get a cat because we both love them!
It has a very cute courtyard and we have our own back door/stoop too!

I started my Christmas shopping today!
I thought it would never happen but I'm coming up with some good ideas this year.
I love giving. I love having some extra cash to spend, too!
Nice one Oregon.
I'm feeling much better too. Thank goodness!

today and yesterday

I spent ALL day in BED! Apparently influenza hits pretty hard. I haven't had the flu since I was little. I can't even believe how sick I have been. The worst part has been the constant migraine like headaches and my eyes have been hurting SO bad. It's hard to even move them. I haven't even wanted to shower or do anything. Chris has been so sweet. He makes me drink very vegi juice and makes me tea and soup. I feel so dependent right now. I'm just glad I didn't get this last week during finals!

Hi

My last final is Thursday! I'm excited. Lately all i've been doing is writing papers, studying, working and looking for a new place to call home! I'm moving out of the apartment i've been in for the past year which i've shared with my brother, Jonah. I'm definitely ready for the change, but it's been a great year here at Condon Court. I have the best neighbors, Shannon and John, Carrie, Kelly and many others. There's a little community here and I love that. I hope I can still come for the Cinco de Mayo courtyard party!

I can't wait to have my own place with my wonderful boyfriend! We're hoping to find a duplex here in SE Portland.

That's all I have for right now. Happy Holidays!

No more Environmental Ethics...the class

THANK GOD.

Don't get me wrong, I do what I can to contribute to environmentalbullcrapism.
It seems like the main point my professor wanted to present today was that Portland is full of Hipster/Vegan/Animal Rights activists (which it is).
However, he hardly even touched on global warming or soil degradation.

I don't know, maybe this is why I don't take Philosophy courses.

Props to all you philosophers... and Louie in Pasadena.

by the way

I should be writing my final paper for environmental ethics...

Here's something funny that you women out there should check out.
I babysit for someone. She has a little girl, Baby G - who's my fav to babysit. Her mother is a comedian/lawyer/mama...and this is her blog.
(warning, a bit R-rated but none-the-less hilarious!)

Just so you know

I was looking at Jenna and Phil's pictures from Cabo.

I said: "man, that looks fun."

Chris said: "and this isn't?" -- as he proceeds to sing and play on the guitar...

"smell my farts and I want to eat pizza"

HELP!

(This actually made me laugh really hard. Chris is so weird. But I love him!!!)

It's been a while...

I left my camera at my parent's house... so, no new pictures here.

But, we had a very nice Thanksgiving. It was a big group this year: Mom, Dad, Em, AJ, Eli, Taylor, Jonah, Kelly, Kelly's brother Cole, our neighbor Carrie, Chris and I, and Grammy.

It was delicious! And FUN! My mom made vegi stuffing, tofu mushroom gravy, and lots of other yummy dishes for us vegitarians. Chris brought a field roast Celebration Roast and it was sooooo good. We made left over sandwiches on Friday.

When we got home, Chris said, "Hanging out with your parents is good for the soul."

I couldn't agree more.

Is it Christmas break yet???

Nope.

Not even Thanksgiving.

I'm writing two very long papers tonight. I tend to procrastinate, which makes life harder. Why do I do this every term? Do I like having a harder life? Do I secretly love typing for hours on end -- about old people!? Is there something inside of me that says, 'Sarah, just wait... it will be way more fun to type this the day before it's due.'

Ladies and gentlemen... I think NOT.

Boo. That's all I have tonight.

Anywho, just wanted to say hey from Portland...

Congradulations to Garrett and Carolynn!!! What a beautiful baby boy, that Jack Danger! I can't wait to meet him!

It's not the best grade. But when you're expecting an F, a B is a lot better.
Take that Social Gerontology!

Crazy Night!

So I got a new job at a pub in NE called The Broadway Grill and Brewery. Here are a couple things that are cool :

1. $2.00 Bloody Mary's on Sunday (one of my favs, but I can't drink 'em because I work Sundays! Boo.)

2. Tips. It's nice to serve again and bring home the bacon (not really bacon. I don't eat meat. YUCK)

3. Being around actual co-workers besides my nephew AJ (even though he TRULY is the best little boy in the world... I was his nanny for 6 months) Check him out!

Here are some things that are a little crazy....

1. Tonight the computers crashed. I felt like my brain was going to explode (which simultaneously corresponds with 2)

2. My table of 10 people got angry at me because I wouldn't split their tab 6 different ways... we just won't allow that! So, the owner of the bar called the COPS on them because they were getting out of hand (I was shakin' in my boots.... clogs actually, new danskos woo!)

3. Having to manually put out "the Drunk Guy's" ciggy when there's no smoking in our bar! YUCK! (But he did tip me $10 just for doing that)

FREAKS!

birthday dinner

Tiff was so sweet and took me out to dinner this Friday. We went to Montage and had some drinks and some spold mac... Yum. After we got some drinks and desert at Backstage by my house.

Thanks Tiff!!! I had a great birthday :)

Happy Birthday to me!

It's my birthday and look what my boyfriend made me!!
Well not really, he found it online.
He's still a sweetheart :)

Oregon Primate Research Center???

We had a guest speaker today in my Environmental Ethics class. He worked at this Primate Research Center in Hillsboro, Oregon. After 24 years of living in Oregon, somehow it's been kept a secret to me and many others. I had no idea Oregon hosts one of the biggest animal testing facilities in the nation.

The speaker was also one of the main providers for a documentary called "Chattel," which we watched an expert from. He provided the documentary with footage that he shot at the Primate Research Center in the two years that he worked there. No one knew he had been secretly filming what goes on there.

Viewing this footage was SHOCKING.
Right around the corner from where I live scientists are testing on monkeys and I find this to be very upsetting, disheartening and sad. I know there are always two sides to a story, and maybe this testing has provided scientists with some worthy information, but where do we draw the line? None of the scientists or doctors involved at this research center would talk about their involvement. The producer of the documentary wanted to show both sides of animal testing, but somehow couldn't get those in favor to speak. I wonder why...

More information about the documentary at:

First timer!

I decided that I'm missing out on all of the fun. Now I can share some of my life with those that I don't get to see very often!
