Why I love Portland...

Other than meeting my crazy-fabulous boyfriend, the music, the beer and multitude of amazing restaurants, we were able to experience something we never had done before! After perusing the cheap theater showtimes, we decided to check out a theater downtown called The Living Room Theater. It's a little retro, modern, with great big comfortable chairs where you can enjoy a nice glass of wine and some gourmet small plates. (only 5$ on mondays)

So we checked out this movie called Kabluey, and found out that the writer/director/co-star is a Portland native, and was going to be at the showing that night. We didn't really know what to expect since we hadn't heard of the movie before. We got there early, grabbed a beer and a good seat and realized that almost everyone there was there to see this movie. It was so good! I loved it, so did Chris. And, it was so cool to meet the writer and director and hear his story behind the movie. It's a true story about him moving in with his sister-in-law (who is played by Lisa Kudrow) to help with her two sons when his brother who is in the Army leaves for Iraq. Some of the story is fictional, and the writer made sure to tell us what was fake after the movie. It's a great little indie-comedy that you should all go see! Or rent, I think it comes out on DVD in 3 weeks. Check it out!

Oh yeah, there is this huge blue costume in the movie, and it was at the Theater. So cool! We're such nerds!

I was inspired last weekend when my mom and I went to Bolt on Alberta. It's a cute little fabric store and they have the most amazing fabrics. Here is what I made today! Take an art canvas, pull the fabric tight and tack with push pins. So easy and they add so much!

random...

* I have the day/night off because my friend asked me if I wanted the night off so she could work twice as hard and make more money. Sure!

* The only time I put on jeans today was to go to Freddies to get sponges and wine.

* I am ordering Hammy's pizza tonight. I had a dream about it last night, so I'm taking that as a sign.

* Cooking for one person is a. hard, b. boring, c. weird, d. not as enjoyable. I'm really glad I don't live by myself. Cooking for others is so enjoyable!

* I am a self proclaimed, born again cat lover. I would be so alone this week if I didn't have Wanda. Seriously, I am one of those cat ladies.

* I love this rain for a change. It's so cozy. I mentioned at work the other day that all I want is a fire place and hot chocolate. One of our regulars, Harry, proceeds with "I don't have the fire place, but I got the hot chocolate." Ew. That's creepy, Harry.

* I watched "I'm not There," today. I liked it, but also didn't fully get it. Does anyone know what Richard Gere's version of Bob Dylan was doing?? So confused.

* I will next watch "The Lost Boys: The Tribe." Who knew they made another one, and both Coreys are in it again!? I can't imagine it being good, but I have to watch it.

* We had such a nice girls night last night. Taylor, Celeste (our friend Jeff's fiance), Martha (drummer Adam's gf) and myself had drinks at Taylors and watched SATC movie at Laurelhurst. We talked about how cute and crazy boys are, just like back in the day at sleepovers!

* I can't wait for Chris to get back. I think i'm going a wee bit crazy!

what's a gal to do?

Wanda and I are home alone for a few days... 10 to be exact! This is the longest Chris and I have been apart. Funny huh? He's on tour with Adam - his bandmate, and Eli - my brother. They are gallivanting through Washington, Idaho, Montana and back to Oregon.

So, what's a gal to do? I think Tay and I are going OUT somewhere fun tonight! And probably having one of these
yum.
