I SAW BUILT TO SPILL

After getting up early, borrowing my friend Julia to get 2 free passes to Built to Spill, picking up Chris when he got off work at 6; thinking "oh, we'll get there early and get some of that good mac 'n cheese" (right, Jenna?), while arriving at the Wonder Ballroom we see a LINE AROUND THE CORNER! WHAT!? I thought I got FREE passes??? And got up early to get them! Doesn't this mean we get in?

Nope.

Luckily we saw my old neighbors John, Shannon, Carrie and Kelly in line. So we cut a little, so what! The event staff guy came around and told us,

"There's a 10-20% chance you'll get in 2/3rds of the way through their set."

Wow, he was very accurate and very pessimistic of our hopes. We said NO. We will not leave. So we stuck it out. Carrie's boyfriend came to pick them up out of the line and as he pulled up the line moves WAY AHEAD. Yes. So close. We wait some more, I push the neighbors in front of us because if it came down to it they had to get in before us. Right as t
he first song started they let us in! We entered the hot, muggy, sweaty, stinky room crammed with people. We got a good little spot, heads positioned just so I could see.
